Falls Church, VA – On stage at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, VA last night, Dan Frank, Three Wire Systems’ CEO, stood before more than 650 leaders of the DC-area business community to accept the 2012 Washington SmartCEO/Clifton Gunderson Future 50 Award. The award recognizes Three Wire as one of the area’s 50 fastest growing companies based on employee and revenue growth over the past three years.

“I’m proud of Three Wire’s comprehensive growth, particularly given the tough economic climate. Our success is a testament to the quality of our products and services, but also to the quality of our team,” Frank states. “It’s notable that our numbers reflect smart growth. We’ve achieved these milestones while remaining true to our mission.”

Companies selected for the 2012 Future 50 each generate in excess of $5 million in annual revenue, collectively generating $11.7 billion and employing more than 30,000 people. Over the past three years this select group has increased revenue by 74 percent and expanded employee rosters by 72 percent.

“Comprehensive growth is applause-worthy in healthy economic times. This year’s group of winners has ignored the recession and created innovative new avenues for growth. The business community is healthier and stronger due to their efforts,” says SmartCEO magazine President and Co-founder Craig Burris.

Three Wire Systems and all Future 50 winners are profiled in the January, 2012 edition of SmartCEO magazine.

Falls Church, VA – The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is hosting a major Veteran-focused career fair and exposition to provide job opportunities, employment services and information on benefits available to Veterans. The Veteran Career Fair and Expo will take place on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Federal agencies, public and private sector organizations will be on hand to interview Veterans for over 5,000 job openings and extend tentative job offers. Veterans will be able to attend training on building resumes and interviewing and learn about small business opportunities. In addition, VA will be showcasing its VA for Vets program, which provides the most advanced online “high-tech” and “high touch” approach to recruiting, hiring, retaining, and reintegrating Veterans into civilian careers. VA for Vets includes an integrated military skills translator and career assessment tool; a resume builder to help Veterans more readily compete for open positions; and avatar-based technology that connects deployed Service Members back to VA during and after their operational missions.

VA for Vets also connects Veterans and Military Service Members working at VA with coaches who provide career guidance and reintegration support. To learn more, visit www.VAforVets.VA.gov.

Serco and its partners, including Three Wire Systems, LLC, have supported the implementation of VA for Vets and provides ongoing execution services for the initiative by providing program management, IT support, website management, career center, coaching, call center, help desk, training and communications support. Kitty Nix, Program Director for Serco states, “We are privileged to be a part of this historic event and providing support to improving Veteran employment.”

Veterans looking to translate their military skills and create a resume in advance of the event can visit the VA for Vets career center at www.VAforVets.VA.gov. Veterans attending the Career Fair and Expo should bring proof of military service. If Veterans are unable to locate proof of service, VA staff members will be available to assist them on the day of the event. Free child care service is available. To learn more about the event, visit VAforVets.com/DC.

Falls Church, VA – The Federal Cybersecurity Training Event program has been offering training to federal cybersecurity professionals since 2010, but they kicked things up a notch this month by launching a virtual training world developed by Three Wire Systems, LLC. “This will enhance the learning experience of the security professionals enrolled in our online training,” Jeff Breed, acting assistant director of the DS Training Directorate, stated in Federal Computer Week. “We expect this to make our online training more useful and enjoyable for our federal cybersecurity trainees.”

The virtual worlds environment designed by Three Wire represents trainees as avatars in a 3-D rendering of a classroom. Three Wire is a leader in virtual world development for the federal marketplace, having received first place in the Army Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge for the VetAdvisor® Virtual Room.

The VetAdvisor® Virtual Room was the first-ever use of virtual interaction between a coach and veteran to foster health and wellness. “Three Wire is continuing to demonstrate the value of virtual worlds in training, coaching, simulation and counseling,” says Paul Handly, Three Wire Chief Technology Officer. “We’re helping to shape the market by developing new and innovative ways to solve real-world problems through the use of virtual spaces.”

The next step for virtual worlds is to combine what is best about gaming with the services veterans need, Handly states. Virtual worlds can impact more veterans by increasing the efficiency of coaching or counseling sessions, and by saving both coach and veteran time. Most importantly, today’s young veterans already turn to web and virtual sources for information and entertainment, making virtual worlds a natural fit for reaching out to these veterans and helping them with the problems associated with reintegration to civilian life.

Ebensburg, PA – Three Wire Systems’ VetAdvisor® Services will be the focus of a hour-long workshop at the 2012 National Association for Rural Mental Health (NARMH) Conference to be held May 15 -18 in Anchorage, Alaska. The annual conference brings together clinicians, administrators, physicians, consumers, family members, program/service providers, researchers, policy and decision-makers, all focused on meeting the challenges posed by rural mental health care.

Jennifer Farabaugh, Vice President of VetAdvisor® Services, proposed the workshop in order to demonstrate the ways an integrated communications platform can be used to empower returning service members and to exhibit how different communication skills and technologies can be employed for rural mental health services. She will lead the discussion. “I’m thrilled that NARMH has provided me this opportunity to showcase all that we’re doing with VetAdvisor®,” states Farabaugh. “We’re providing cutting-edge services to veterans and service members that address unemployment, mental health, and substance abuse, and it’s important that we share best practices.”

This workshop will showcase the technology that VetAdvisor® utilizes to meet the needs of rural veterans. VetAdvisor® focuses on health, wellness, and career coaching for veterans and service members. VetAdvisor® employs a coaching platform that emphasizes support, education, advocacy, and skill building. VetAdvisor® also coordinates and delivers a range of peer support and coaching services to veterans across the country.

Through an integrated communication platform, VetAdvisor® provides different types of secure technology to support a coaching methodology that is designed for patient self-management. The veteran or service member can access the technology from their own home therefore reducing travel, especially in highly rural areas.

The VetAdvisor® mission is to utilize technology to provide services and resources that support veterans, service members, and their families. VetAdvisor® heavily utilizes the Virtual Collaboration Tool (VCT), a 3D workspace that has the ability to work with service members and veterans in “real-time” while they are in their own home.

This workshop will provide an overview of the technology that VetAdvisor® uses to provide veterans, service members and their families’ holistic coaching services to foster happy, well-adjusted, housed, and employed members of society.

Falls Church, VA – If a family-friendly, non-competitive run or walk is on your September agenda, and if you want to enjoy a day of family activities while supporting a good cause, then the Light the Way 5K to benefit Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is a must for your schedule. The fundraiser, to be held September 10 at National’s Park in Washington, DC, includes live music, refreshments, kid’s activities, vendors, and more. As part of its commitment to give back to the community, Three Wire Systems is one of this year’s premier sponsors.

“Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind has been providing services to the visually-impaired in the DC area for over a century, and Three Wire is proud to sponsor this important fundraiser,” states Three Wire CEO Dan Frank. “We share CLB’s commitment to enabling people of all ages to live independent lives and are looking forward to a great day on September 10.”

There is no cost to participate. Instead, individuals are asked to seek family and friends to either sponsor them or participate as well. Everyone decides on their own fundraising goal, working together to help CLB continue to offer their life-changing programs and services.
